Not something you want to take on lightly, but sometimes you have to. Until you can install the Windows Update fix release, you can set a registry key that will cause Outlook to stop using the local Windows Search service. When this registry key is set, Outlook will use its own built-in search engine. The built-in search will display the message below to indicate it is not using the Windows Search service. Customers with only a 3rd party email address set up as the username of their Microsoft Account will be asked to add a 1st party Microsoft alias to their account before accessing Outlook.com.
